Ever wonder if the way you are using your technology during your divorce could be a factor in getting what you want from your divorce? Or even just in your stress level?

In this informative episode of the Starting Over Stronger Divorce Survival and Recovery Podcast, Family Law Attorney Kristen Buzzelli of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, shares from her years of experience representing clients in divorce, and her tech savvy, about how to use your technology smartly during your divorce.

Here are just a few DOs and DON’Ts that we discussed:

  1. Do post wisely and with discretion.

  2. Don’t open and read emails between your ex and their attorney. (sounds kind of illegal, doesn’t it?)

  3. Do get Our Family Wizard (court-ordered if necessary) if your ex is gaslighting, manipulating or verbally abusing you.

  4. Don’t respond to baited texts.

  5. Do text and call your kids directly, but know that your response can be submitted as evidence. Don’t alienate.

  6. Don’t post anything about your divorce on social media.

  7. Do brag on your ex if they do something great, just don’t do that and then tell the judge they are an unfit parent.

  8. Don’t do a Facebook Live while you are actively driving a motor vehicle and smoking pot– especially if you want custody of your children.

You know, stuff like that.

This is just a drop in the bucket. There are many more excellent tips (and funny stories) when you listen in to the full episode. Tune in anytime after July 21 on your favorite podcast app or on the Podcast page here. Don’t forget subscribe, like and follow while you’re there. And share! You never know if one of your friends is silently struggling with this decision.
